Eventbrite
Product Designer
I was an early designer at Eventbrite. I joined when the company was a startup and pre IPO. It was a small team, and I had many roles. I designed native apps, hand coding landing pages, investor pitch decks, branding, billboards, t-shirts etc.. As the team grew, the design sophistication also grew. I was able to focus primarily on product design.Throughout my tenure I focused on quality and scale. I implemented styleguides as a means to scale both web and native apps while retaining design quality.
Projects
NEON
Eventbrite App
Neon is Eventbrite's onsite mobile app. It helps organizers manage tickets, attendees, and venues. In the last year the Eventbrite brand has been evolving. Neon was one of the first products to be redesigned to reflect some of the new visual identity. I took this opportunity to create a scalable visual system. It included a new grid, a new typographical layout, and scalable components that could work with both iOS and Android. I also introduced a dark and light mode, which is defined in the component library.
Role - Lead Visual Designer.
Light/Dark Mode
Neon is primarily used in the field. Organizers are exposed to varied lighting situations, because of this, visibility becomes a constraint. Outdoor events may require a bright white mode for legibility. On the other hand an event could take place inside a club or theatre where users prefer a dark mode. I created a system that accounted for both the light and night mode.
Apple Watch Support
I wanted to design something useful for organizers on the go. Apple Watch is great for organizers to track events at a glance. I designed a complimentary apple watch app to go along with the organizer tool neon. My main constraint was getting as much useful information on the watch as possible, without cluttering the UI.
Eventbrite Seat Designer
Reserved seating gave organizers the ability to easily create a graphical representation of their venue. My task was to design all the the interactions required for a user to create a seat map, selling order, and ticket assignment. I designed the project styleguide and the ticketing logic associated with the seats. I worked closely with engineering team and we managed to launch a Beta in four months.
The challenge of this project was that all venues are different shapes and sizes. Venues exist in physical space, it was our task ensure that the user could create something to accurately represent their event.
